[Album] IKU – YUAUEA

you must be asking why i didn’t wrote a review for Ayumi Hamasaki‘s NEXT LEVEL, which is released on the same day, and did one for IKU instead. well, because Ayumi’s NEXT LEVEL need no real review.. IT’S TOO AWESOME xD xD

*gets kicked by Ayumi’s and IKU’s fans*

but well, i will make one later for NEXT LEVEL.. even if it’s just a short review 😛

12(4:23) 誓い言~スコシだけもう一度~ (Chikaigoto ~Sukoshi Dake Mou Ichido~)
13(4:47) 金魚と泡粒 (Kingyo to Awatsubu)

let’s just start the review:

1. Spring Up
Music & Arrangement: Maiko Iuchi
an instrumental opening from Maiko Iuchi. wow i didn’t expect her to do this but it really fits IKu’s image =3
it’s like a prelude to the next song…

2. Ko no Me Kaze
Lyrics & Music: IKU    Arrangement: Kazuya Takase (I’ve Sound)
yes… this is our 4th Ending from the anime Hayate the Combat butler. well, it’s IKU’s debut single. IKU’s voice is actually good but the song is uncapable to bring her potential voice out.

3. Sasayakana koto
Lyrics: IKU    Music & Arrangement: bassy (Barbarian On The Groove)
hey… i want to ask something… can’t IKU make something that is not GENERIC ?!?!?!? this is just the 2nd song, but… it’s really something generic !!! -_-;;

4. Kanashii Seiza

Lyrics: IKU    Music & Arrangement: Satoshi Yaginuma (fripSide)
Ugh…. it sounds like Mami Kawada‘s old song ‘Dakishimete Itooshiku Utsukushiku‘ or Ayumi Hamasaki‘s ‘momentum‘ -_-;; but at least it’s not something too generic and… well, i gotta say i kinda fond of something like this xD xD *get stomped*

5. Oto no Nai Yozora ni
Lyrics: IKU    Music & Arrangement: Kazuya Takase (I’ve Sound)
well, our I’ve Sound King, Kazuya Takase surely is trying to raise IKU even though she’s not even part of I’ve Sound… and I WON’T comment this song… really… it’s good, but boring…

6. under the bed
Lyrics & Music: Rubina    Arrangement:
now now… finaly… something that’s not IKU-ish xD xD what i mean with ‘not IKU-ish’ is… this song is slow rock. with the guitar distortion (although just a bit). but IKU’s voice is boring here… nothing special. maybe she’s just unfit of rock-ish song 😀

7, The Winds of Change
Lyrics: IKU    Music & Arrangement:
well… this is really ‘wind of change’ in this album xD xD it’s more cheerful.. and certainly a good change of pace… although it’s still a bit IKU-ish xD xD

8. Rimless ~Fuchinashi no Sekai~
Lyrics: IKU    Music: IKU & Kazuya Takase    Arrangement: Kazuya Takase
our 1st Ending theme from the anime To aru majutsu no Index. well, it’s the same type as Oto no Nai Yozora ni, but somehow i like Rimless more 😛 IKU’s voice, at least, is better in her 2nd single than in her debut single 😛

9. Haruka na Sekai
Lyrics:     Music: nao (fripSide)    Arrangement: Satoshi Yaginuma (fripSide)
ballad… but… good x3 at least it’s not IKU-ish 😛 😛

10. Oshimai no Uso
Lyrics & Music: IKU    Arrangement: Kazuya Takase (I’ve Sound)
ballad… it’s beautiful x3 love Kazuya Takase’s arrangement here. so far, i should say this is the best song in the album x3

11. Fine
Lyrics: IKU    Music & Arrangement: Yamada-something… -_-;;
boring… boring… BORING !!! may i skip to the next song ?? -_-;; wait.. wait… so it’s better after half of the song has passed xD

12. Chikaigoto ~Sukoshi dake mou ichidou~
Lyrics & Music: IKU    Arrangement: Kazuya Takase (I’ve Sound)
*lol* do i need to review this one ?? 2nd Ending from the anime To aru Majutsu no Index, i’ve reviewed it before xD xD but, oh well, just to tell you abit. this song is the same type as her debut single, Ko no Me Kaze.

13. Kingyo to Awatsubu
Lyrics:     Music:         Arrangement:
hah~~.. it ends with a BALLAD… not really a ballad actually *lol* but… i’ve lost my mood to comment this song… -_-;;

even with Kazuya Takase behind her, plus fripSide and Barbarian On The Groove, this album is still much too WEAK -_-;;

well… before i finish this review, i should say one thing… YUAUEA really fits to be a lullaby album, just like what i’ve suspected… I recommend you to buy this album if you’re a HEAVY INSOMNIAC xD xD

    “I recommend you to buy this album if you’re a HEAVY INSOMNIAC xD xD”

    seconded. The Winds of Change is the only (new) song that I recognized as good. No wonder it only positioned itself @ #41 last night in the Oricon daily. -_-;

    haha… it’s a no-wonder case 😀

    i like Oshimai no Uso, too =3

    Oh I also forgot to include that too. Oshimai no Uso is quite good considering Kazuya Takase is the one who did it. And I think he’s the only one who did a good job here. As for Yoshiaki Dewa (one of the arrangers of Kingyo to Awatsubu and is also a member of the J-pop duo Jyukai), he could’ve done better since I like his composition with Jyukai.

    it’s not that i dislike IKU. i like her voice, too 😀

    but this album is really monotone and most of the songs have the same tunes.

    what i mean by IKU-ish ??

    well, don’t you notice that most of her songs sound similar ?? i.e. Chikaigoto and Ko no Me Kaze

    that’s what i mean IKU-ish 😀
